Digital sovereignty: a strategic issue for French companies

Playing “digital sovereignty”: a strategic issue

The question of digital sovereignty is now firmly anchored in concerns.

It results in concrete decisions, taken at European level, aimed at developing sovereign solutions and encouraging companies to become independent from major transnational players (GAFAM).

The data used by these companies is considered sensitive, which is where the major issues relating to digital sovereignty for organizations arise.

The quest for true digital independence raises two major challenges for French companies: strategic and ethical.

Where are French companies in terms of digital sovereignty?

An unclear topic that arouses interest

9 out of 10 decision-makers have already heard of digital sovereignty but only half really know what it is.

The majority of decision-makers believe that digital sovereignty is important for their organization. 1/3 think this is an essential subject.

2/3 of decision-makers think that digital sovereignty must be initiated at the company level.

The collaborative tools market, potential to be exploited

1 in 2 decision makers already use sovereign collaborative tools, mainly to protect the company's personal data. The desire to support the French economy comes second.

8 out of 10 decision-makers are open to testing new collaborative tools in the next 3 years.

The main obstacle to the use of sovereign tools is the monopoly of American tools and the lack of knowledge of French and European tools.

Mature French and European tools

Today, French and European publishers offer real, mature technical alternatives capable of competing with their American counterparts.

The maturity of sovereign solutions now opens up the possibility of supplementing or replacing GAFAM tools with French or European tools.

In the same way, the challenge for French/European publishers is to fit into their clients' environment and let them choose the tools best suited to their needs.

New innovative offers are moving in this direction, giving companies the choice to compose their “à la carte” solution to better meet their needs, preserve their past choices and preserve choices for future developments.
